1. Elder (Sambucus) Like the wild tree, incredibly robust
and easy to grow, we have two varieties which deserve equal
billing. They do need space, but are well worth it. 'Guincho
Purple' has fantastic purple leaves, and is hard to beat when
the great heads of foamy blossom appear. 'Aurea' has golden
leaves and white flowers. Either is ideal for an awkward space
under a mature tree.
